BASICS A quiet mechanic and animal sanctuary founder. An ex-IRS agent, from the Galateion Research and Engineering Department. A person with bloody hands, slick with the lives of many, those he killed and those he didn't save. A man trying to redeem himself for what he's done.

SETTING 2030s, the height of the Shadow Wars. The world balances on the edge of life and death, salvation and damnation. The quiet walls of IRS teem with technology and inhumanity. One must be ready to pay their debts and sins.

AESTHETICS Murmurs in a crowd. Taste of static and copper in the air. Footsteps, light and quiet. Cigarette smoke. Hands slick with oil and blood. Tired eyes ringed by exhaustion. A door slamming shut as the person just leaves the room, never to return.

PERSONALITY

There's an earthiness to Roderic's demeanour when one meets him from the first time. Despite his frightening amount of intelligence thanks to his near ravenous hunger for knowledge, he is frank and plain as one can be. It can be seen from the way he's always, one way or another, covered in dust or dirt after a long day of hard work at the mechanic's shop. Or from the way he's practical to most people as he gives to the honest and blunt answers. He is a no nonsense type of guy who'll cut straight to the point when making deals or making small talk.

That doesn't make him crass however. He's not stupid after all. He's clever and smart and all sorts of things but crass he is not. Roderic all but forbids himself from drinking or taking drugs after his nasty run-ins with the stuff. Smoking is an indulgence and a necessity he needs to keep his powers at bay but he tries to be considerate of those around him when he starts chainsmoking through his packs. He has manners after all. Roderic can be a polite and affable fellow if he wants to be and yet it also comes with a sense of distance. A sense of coolness and restraint, like he's holding himself back.

Not too much of a surprise. After being more or less screwed over by the cosmic forces with the hand he's been forced with - Roderic has this sense of having a storm in his veins and the light in his eyes being more fire than sparks. There's a sense of unbridled anger underneath the surface of the quiet man, a raging thunder and hail just begging to come out but he refuses to indulge in it unless pushed to his very limits or if his hand is forced down that path.

That anger had been in him even before the incident with Henry and Melody. It's just that incident with the catalyst of him needing to face his darker demons, his nastier side of him that has him become sullen and withdrawn form the world if he doesn't feel like putting up with the things before him.

That said there is also a kindness to Roderic, a gentleness to him. To those he's loyal to, he is their biggest supporter and defender and will always come to their aid if they ask of it or if he finds out they need a hand. He has a soft spot for kids, downright more friendly and open to them than adults, and is always trying to be a knight in shining armour for women if he feels like they need his help. If they prove themselves capable, however, or ask him to step back - Then he will. He knows better than to underestimate people for their appearance.

He likes to think himself as being an observant guy, watching and taking note of the world around him. Trying to see more than what's presented to him because he has to be careful, has to be smart. The world is a dangerous game and he knows what happens when the odds aren't in your favour.
